The Molecular Lab PCR Development Network of Roche Diagnostics Solutions is responsible for all activities related to diagnostic systems based on PCR and sequencing technologies. The Hardware Development chapter engineers instruments and high-end analytical modules. The Sub Chapter Thermal Solutions develops and maintains mechatronic heating and cooling units integrated into such instruments. Because quality matters and temperature is no coincidence we make temperature controllable. To further strengthen our capabilities, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with advanced skills in controlling thermal units. 

**THE OPPORTUNITY**

* Develop electronics hardware according to local guidance documents, from writing technical specifications to designing solutions and integration into the diagnostic system.
* Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams for concept studies, feasibility analysis, and development projects of mechatronic units.
* Define work packages and plan with regards to scope, effort, and timeline within the development team.
* Develop PCBAs, firmware, wirings, and cables (including ECAD and microcontroller programming) based on technical requirements, including design verification and maintenance.
* Create and update manufacturing documents, technical documentation, and project deliverables for product development and product care activities.
* Develop R&D hardware test equipment and scripts, involving expert developers from various disciplines (e.g., software, motion control, liquid handling, infrastructure, optics) and coordinating external development partners and suppliers.

**WHO YOU ARE**

You will bring the following profile:

* Bachelor or Master of Science in electrical engineering or equivalent and minimum of 5 years professional experience as a development engineer in R&D ideally in medical devices. Deep knowledge in electrical engineering (analog and digital circuits, programming on microcontroller) and development of mechatronic hardware. Knowledge in safety- and reliability engineering
* Experience in ECAD Systems (e.g. Mentor Xpedition) and programming language C and Experience in Matlab or Python programming
* Strong analytical skills and experience with experimental techniques for measuring thermal properties.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to details.
* Fluent in written and spoken English, German is a strong asset
