Job Description
Introduction
The Engineering Department (EN) pushes back the limits of technology so that physicists can carry out their research. Within the Electrical Engineering (EL) group of the EN department, you will join the section of the Electrical Project Management (EPM), which is responsible for the management of projects related to the consolidation and upgrade of CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution network within the group.
Are you an experienced electrical engineer looking for a new challenge in projects ranging from high voltage networks to low voltage installations? Then your skills could contribute to the operation, maintenance, consolidation and extension of the complex electrical transmission and distribution network of CERN, dedicated to a unique laboratory hosting some of the world’s most complex technical installations. Join CERN’s Electrical Engineering team. Take part!

Functions
As an Electrical Engineer in the Electrical Project Management (EPM) section, you will actively take part in section projects mainly covering the extension, consolidation and the renovation of the electrical network at CERN, as well as CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution projects for the future.

You will:
Manage projects on the existing electrical high and low voltage network, including multidisciplinary activities such as civil engineering, cooling and ventilation, IT systems;
Define the requirements with the stakeholders;
Carry out conceptual design phase work, leading the development work needed to validate concepts up to the drafting of the conceptual design specifications and reports;
Coordinate the study of the project as well as the detailed design, collaborating with resources within CERN or with external companies;
Manage tendering process from companies qualification to contract adjudication;
Coordinate the execution of projects, from supply of material to onsite installation up to commissioning and handover to the operation and maintenance teams;
Define and manage project scope, planning, budget, risks, opportunities, and report to the management on a regular basis;
Contribute to the development of the group in terms of technology, innovation, methods and procedures, and contribute to the medium-long term studies of CERN’s electrical network;
Support the Group on operation activities when needed (for example: commissioning, attendance at periodic tests on the network, root cause analysis in case of major event);
Be part of the stand by service.
