Get to know Climeworks

Climeworks removes CO₂ from the air to fight global warming and protect future generations to come.

We develop, build and operate direct air capture (DAC) machines which capture CO₂ directly from the air. The captured carbon dioxide is removed from the air by safely storing it underground, permanently.

Founded in 2009 by engineers, Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher, Climeworks was built with a mission to inspire 1 billion people to remove CO₂ from the air, and is now spearheading the DAC industry globally. It has the world’s largest DAC facility and storage installation in operation and a team of over 450 Climeworkers determined to contribute to a net-zero future.

A true climate pioneer, Climeworks is featured as a TIME100 Influential Company 2022 and Global Cleantech 100 Company 2022, driving a revolutionary technology engineered to solve the most pressing issue of our time.

We foster a dynamic environment and are building a global purpose driven team. We are looking for disruptive thinkers, passionate achievers and inspiring leaders that are ready to take on the world’s greatest challenge.

Job description

Your mission at Climeworks is to ensure Climeworks' competitive advantage by scaling up and delivering best-in-class technology solutions for structured sorbents to meet performance and cost reduction goals.

You hire, build, lead and foster collaboration & employee development of a highly qualified team of engineers, technicians, and scientists.

You oversee the successful transformation of Climeworks’ validated structured sorbent prototypes (TRL5) into mass-manufactured products: you lead product-oriented design and certification work, ensure manufacturing & QA/QC plans are developed to meet cost and schedule targets, and serve as the technical lead for supplier due diligence.

You ensure the structured sorbents’ performance, cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability, and the integration into Climeworks collector containers.

You work closely with 3rd party vendors to deliver manufacturing equipment and/or products which meet Climeworks’ quality standards and regulatory requirements, including leading validation activities of new equipment.

You work closely with the R&D teams which develop sorbent structures prototypes to TRL5, ensuring that downstream manufacturability constraints are fed back into early development.

You define and enforce technical standards, maintaining tools and methods in your field.

Requirements

You have a university degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or a similar field

You bring 10+ years of industrial experience in either product design for manufacturing, manufacturing processes, or manufacturing quality for structured gas processing systems, such as air filters, gas filters, exhaust gas treatment systems, flue gas treatment systems, membranes, structured catalysts (e.g., monoliths/honeycombs), fuel cells, or similar systems.

You have a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position with direct reports.

You bring a proven track record of successfully leading continuous improvement initiatives.
